Abstract
Background: Acne mostly appears in the age of adolescence. According to Sudharmono (2009), acne vulgaris tends to affect of men and women in Indonesia in the age of 16-17 years old. Acne becomes a common health problem and can cause a psychological problem. Objective: This research aims at finding the correlation between the knowledge level and attitude of adolescents towards acne in Al Huda VIP Vocational High School Kebumen. Method: This research uses a random sampling method with cross sectional survey approach.The number of samples was calculated using Slovin formula. The data analysis is done by using univariate analysis and Spearman Rank test for the bivariate analysis. Result: This research finds that 25 adolescents (43,9%) have a good level of knowledge, while 32 adolescents (56,1%) have moderate level of knowledge and 52 adolescents (91,2%) have positive attitudes towards acne. While the rest 5 adolescents (8,8%) tend to have negative attitude towards acne. The Spearman Rank test shows the r value = 0,274 with significancy ρ value = 0,039 (ρ < 0,05) which means null hypothesis is rejected and the alternative hypothesis is accepted. Conclusion: There is a correlation between the knowledge level and attitude of adolescents towards acne in Al Huda VIP Vocational High School Kebumen. Recommendation: It is expected that the students can improve their knowledge and attitude by seeking the right information. Also expected the school and parents to participate in giving them information about personal hygiene
