Abstract
Background: Patients with a chronical disease, such as thalassemia will be dependent on families due to their limitations and disabilities in response to pain and trauma. Parents having children with chronical illness usually have a phsychological burden (like stress) so that requires stress management. Stress management is not to eliminate stress entirely but to control it so that there will be optimum passion. There are 50 thalassemia patients who have to do routine blood transfusion each month. Based on the result of communication with 5 parents of Thalassemia patients, there are 3 parents (6%) were stressed becaue their children had to do treatment. The other 2 parents (4%) consider this condition as a life trouble to be sincerely accepted. Objective: To know the correlation between stress management and stress level on thalassemia patient family in Jasmine Room of DR. Soedirman Hospital Kebumen Method: This study uses correlational method with cross sectional approach. The sample are 50 persons of Thalassemia family taken in total sampling. Data were analyzed by using descriptive analysis and Kendal Tau correlation test. Result: Based on the research conducted, 82.0% of the respondents in Jasmine Room of DR. Soedirman Hospital Kebumen have good stress management. And 68.0% of respondents have mild category of stress level (68.0%). Conclusion: There is a correlation between stress management and stress level on thalassemia patient family in Jasmine Room of DR. Soedirman Hospital Kebumen (r= -0.320; p=0.002)
