Abstract
Background: Motor development is the beginning of intelligence and social emotion of a child. Environmental factors play animportant role in influencing the growth. One of the factors is nutrition (food). The best food for infants is exclusive breastfeeding. Objective: To find the correlation between exclusive breastfeeding and motor development of infants at Karangmojo, Karanggayam, Kebumen. Method: The research method used is descriptive correlation with cross sectional approach. The number of the samples is 35 respondents using purposive sampling technique. Data collection was done by using questionnaires to measure exclusive breastfeeding. Meanwhile Denver II observation sheets were used to measure motor development. Data analysis was conducted by using Chi Square correlation test. Result: Based on Chi Square correlation test, the significancy value is p = 0.000. It means there is a relationship between exclusive breastfeeding and motor development of infants. Conclusion: There is a correlation between exclusive breastfeeding and motor development of infants at Karangmojo, Karanggayam, Kebumen. Recommendation: Mothers are suggested to give exclusive breastfeed and to stimulate the development of their infants.
