Abstract
Background: The number of smokers in boys continues to increase, Indonesia is the 4th highest country in the world with 46.8% male and 3.1% of women aged 10 and above as smokers (Eriksen, 2011). Smoking is a major health problem in Indonesia and more than 200,000 people die every year (WHO, 2014). Purpose: This study aims to analyze whether there is a correlation between the level of knowledge of smoking hazard with the attitude of male students of class X and XI in SMK Giripuro Sumpiuh Banyumas. Research Method: Using simple random sampling technique with cross sectional approach of Chi Square Results: Knowledge level 57 (63,3%) good, 20 (22,2%) enough and 13 (14,4%) less. While smoking attitude 76 (84,4%) positive and 14 (15,6%) negative. Chi square test showed that r = 0,094 and significance value p = 0,674 (p> 0,05) mean Ho accepted and Ha rejected. Conclusion: There is no significant correlation between the level of knowledge the dangers of smoking for health with smoking attitudes of male students of class X and XI in SMK Giripuro Sumpiuh Banyumas.
