Abstract

Background: About 4,3% incidence of injuries usually happens at school. This encourages the teachers to have good knowledge about First Aid Kit so that they are able to handle the injuries appropriately. This can make the situation and condition of the victim better. One of the efforts is by providing health education on First Aid Kit. Objective: To determine the effectiveness of health education on the knowledge level of elementary school teachers about first aid kit. Method: This research uses experimental quasy method with pre-test and post-test using control group design. The samples are 68 respondents of elementary school teachers in Puring sub district. Data was analyzed by using Paired t test, Wilco-xon test and Mann Whitney test. Result: Paired t test yields (p=0,001) for leaflet group. Wilco-xon got result (p=0,000) for lecturing group. Meanwhile the effectiveness difference test using Mann Whitney test resulting in (p=0,000) Conclusion: Health education is effective to improve the knowledge level of elementary teachers in Puring sub-district about first aid kit. Recommendation: Health institutions are suggested to collaborate with schools in providing health education about first aid
