Abstract
Background: Based on national survey (2011), 8 of every 1000 persons suffer from stroke. Stroke is the main cause of death by the proportion of 15.4%. The implementation of oral hygiene for a patient with the decreasing consciousness is done to clean the mouth free from bacteria and infection. Therefore, the writer is interested in applying nursing care for a patient having decreasing consciousness by applying the effectiveness of honey oral hygiene. Objective:Describing the application of the effectiveness of honey oral hygiene forastroke patient withdecreasing consciousnessin dr. Soedirmanhospital, Kebumen. Method:This scientific paper is an analytical descriptive with case study approach. Data were obtained through interview, observation, physical examination, and documentation study. Result: After having nursing care by applying honey oral hygiene, the healing process of stomatitisis faster and no signs of infection. Conclusion: The application of honey oral hygiene is effective to accelerate the healing of stomatitis. Keywords: Stroke, honey, oral hygiene, stomatitis
