Abstract
Background : Exclusive breast feeding is the most important source of nutrition for a baby. Objective : To determine the correlation (relationship) between the family support and exclusive breast feeding in Puskesmas Sempor I. Method : The research was conducted by using quantitative method and cross sectional approach. Sample were taken according to inclusion criteria, i.e. 48 respondents with the population of mothers breastfeeding infants in the age 0-6 months. The data analysis includes univariate and bivariate analysis using Chi- Square test. Results : The bivariate analysis using Chi- Square shows that there is correlation between the variable of family support and breasfeeding (p value= 0,016 (P< 0,05), and the Ho was accepted. It means that there is a meaningful relationship between family support and exclusive breastfeeding. Conclusion : There is significant correlation between family support and exclusive breasting. Recommendation: The support system service is very important for health workers and families to improve the success of breastfeeding.
