Abstract
Background:Scabies is a skin disease caused by a mite infestation and sensitization Sarcoptes scabiei. Scabies is the third of the 12 most common skin diseases. The occurrenceof scabies in Central Java – 46,8% in Cilacap, 34,2% in Bukateja,and 19% in Semarang. Objective: The aim of this studyis to determine whether there is a correlation between knowledge level and environmentalhealth behavior towards the occurrence of scabies in the Raudhatul Qur’an Islamic boarding school of Banyumas. Method:This research is an observasional survey with case control. There are 100 respondents to be the samples in this study (50 for cases and 50 for control). The data collection was conducted by using questionnaires and observation and then analyzed by descriptive and correlation using Chi Square test (Fisher). Result:Based on research conducted in May 2017, theknolwedgelevel (p = 0.001, OR : 4.148), changing of clothes or praying appliances(p = 0.000, OR : 10.091), changing towels(p-value = 0.008, OR : 3.083), sleeping at close quarters (p = 0.008, OR 3.500). Conclusion: There is a correlation between the knowledge level and environmentalhealth behavior towards the occuranceof scabies inRaudhatul Qur’an Islamic boarding school of Banyumas.
