Abstract
Background: Snacks food is prepared and sold on the street and public places and then eaten directly without processing or further preparation. They were both less qualified health requirement and nutrition. They may threaten health status of school children such as diarrhea, a disease of the gastrointestinal tract. Objective: The present study aims to determine correlation between parents’ knowledge about snacks food and diarrhea incidence at state Primary School 1 Of Buayan, Kebumen. Methods: This study used descriptive correlative methods with retrospective approach. The population were 192 respondents. The samples were 66 respondents taken by simple random sampling technique. Data analysis used kolmogorov-smirnov correlation test and significance was set at p-value (p<0,05). Result: The majority of parents’ knowledge were good category in amount of 53 respondents (80,3%). There were 58 children (87,9%) who were not having diarrhea. Kolmogorov-Smirnov test showed p-value 0,008 (p<0,05) meaning that there were significant correlation between parents’ knowledge about snacks food and diarrhea incidence at State Primary School 1 of Buayan, Kebumen. Conclusion: Kolmogorov-Smirnov test showed p-value 0,008 meaning that there were significant correlation between parents’ knowledge about snacks food and diarrhea incidence at State Primary School 1 of Buayan, Kebumen. Advice for parents’ to impart their knowledge of healthy snack food for children to prevent diarrhea.
