Abstract
Background: Appendix is umbai worm, an additional organ of the tubular cavity. Infection of this organ is called appendicitis that can be overcome by appendectomy which can give the effect of pain. The relaxation distraction technique using lavender aromatherapy will divert the patient's feeling towards pain. Lavender aromatherapy is a treatment technique using odors of lavender essential oil. Objective: To find out the pain scale of appendix post operation patient before and after the application of lavender aromatherapy relaxation distraction. Method: This scinetific paper is an analytical descriptive with a case study approach. The data were obtained through interview, observation, physical examination, and documentation. The subject was an appendix post operation patient. Result: After having distraction of relaxation using lavender aromatherapy, the pain scale decreased from 6 (medium category) to be 3 (light category), before given action relaxation distraction of lavender aromatherapy that is as much as 56% category enough in doing distraction of relaxation and after given relaxation distraction of lavender aromatherapy is 88% good category in doing distraction relaxation lavender aromatherapy. Recommendation: This relaxation technique of lavender aromatherapy distraction is recommended in one of the treatment of acute pain in postoperative appendix patients, with the result of the patient's ability to perform the relaxation distraction of lavender aromatherapy and reduced pain scale.
