Abstract
Background. Ineffective airway clearance is a respiratory tract disorder due to a blockage in the airway characterized by difficulty in breathing and respiratory rate (RR) increase. Objective. To describe a nursing care by giving chest physiotherapy (clapping) to excrete sputum of a child with Acute Respiratory Inefection (ARI). Method. This study is an analytical descriptive in the form of a case study with the applicaation. Nursing Care. The result of the assessment shows that the client had shortness of breath, cough, RR increases, auscultation in the lung. The nursing problems found were ineffective airway clearance associated with the accumulation of secretions. Then an intervention was arranged to monitor the client’s vital sign, such as breath pattern, RR, pulse, auscultation breath sound. Besides, collaboration of inhalation therapy and chest physiotherapy (clapping) were also planned. The implementation of nursing care was conducted in 3x7 hours’ time with the result of the nursing problems evaluation was that ineffective airway clearance with thw accumulation of secretions of the client was resolved. Conclusion. Treatment of chest physitherapy (clapping) can excrete sputum of a child.
