Abstract
Background: Congestive heart failure (CHF) is a pathophysiological condition when the heart as a pump is unable to meet the metabolic needs. Signs common symptoms are shortness of breath when lying down or activity. The first treatment of congestive heart failure patients in the ICCU Prof. Dr. Margono Soekarjo Purwokerto hospital is a semi-fowler position patient. Objective: Explaining the nursing care given to patients with impaired breathing patterns in patients with congestive heart failure in the ICCU of Prof. Dr. Margono Soekarjo Purwokerto hospital. Results: The assessment was done in five patients with congestive heart failure in alloanamnesa or autoanamnesa. Then do the physical examination and investigation. From the data analysis it can be deduced priority nursing problems is the ineffectiveness of breathing patterns. After the action of positioning semi-fowler patient 30-450 for three times twelve hours obtained patients feel comfortable and there is a reduction of breathlessness from weight to light. Recommendation: Provision of semi-fowler position in patients with respiratory pattern disorder proved to be used to reduce shortness of breath, maximize ventilation and improve sleep quality of patients who disturbed the pattern of breathing. In principle, the provision of semi-fowler position should be carried out continuously so that the oxygen needs in patients with impaired breath pattern ineffectiveness can be fulfilled
