Abstract
Background:Pain is one of the clinical manifestations of fractures caused by damaged tissue around broken bone, muscle spasms, shifting bone fragments and suppression of the sensory nerves. Pain may arise during activity and disappear at rest, or tenderness in the area of the fracture. Cold compress is a nonpharmacological therapy that serves to decrease tissue inflammation, reduce blood flow and reduce edema, and increase the release of endorphins that block the transmission of pain stimulus so that pain is reduced. Objective:To find out how much the effect of cold compresses on five patients, and to give an overview of the results of nursing care in closed fracture patients with acute pain nursing problem. Method:Case study of five cases using descriptive method. Results:The five patients who had cold compress showed reduced pain after being given the cold compress. Conclusion:Giving cold compresses waseffective method to reduce the pain of closed fracture patients.
