Abstract
Background: The pain in labor is a physiological process of uterine contractions that can increase the activity of the sympathetic nervous system, changes in blood pressure, heart rate, respiration and if not treated promptly it will increase fear, tension, fear, stress, Trauma to get pregnant again. One of the nonpharmacological measures to relieve pain include warm compresses using a towel. General Objective: To find out how much influence of warm compresses using towel media to reduce pain during labor stage I active phase in VK room of DR. Soedirman Kebumen Hospital. Outcome: Pain at the first stage of labor during the active phase was performed in 5 maternity patients, before being given warm compress with a towel on the back of the patient saying pain during contractions, seeming to withstand pain (wincing), pain scale 5-7, always holding his stomach, focusing on himself, and after a warm compress, the patient says the pain is reduced, the back feels warm and comfortable, the pain scale 3-4. Recommendation: Nursing care of pain by giving warm compresses were influenced by media that being used, duration of giving, and warmth temperature. So it is recommended to health workers to be able to provide warm compresses to reduce labor pain as a nonpharmacological alternative therapy.
