Abstract
Background: Hypertension is one of elderly health problems that need immediate and integrated treatment because it can be at risk of heart, brain and kidney disorders. Health education affects the behavior of healthy living and obedience to hypertension diet program of the elderly, so that blood pressure can be controlled properly. Objective: Describing the analysis of family nursing care of hypertensive elderly patients with the fulfillment of basic needs of health promotion in Kalirejo village, Kebumen. Method: Case study of five cases using descriptive method. Results: The second visit showed a decrease in blood pressure between pre and post health education given to two patients, namely Mrs. M (180/90 mmHg to 170/80 mmHg) and Mr. R (160/90 mmHg to 140/90 mmHg), while the blood pressure of the other three patients was no different. Third visit showed an increase of knowledge before and after health education, namely Mrs. M (15%), Mrs. R (20%), Mr. R (10%), Mr. D (10%), and Mr. D (10%) meaning there was an increase in the knowledge level of the five patients with an average value of 13%. There was no difference in blood pressure between pre and post health education given to all patients, indicating a controlled blood pressure. Recommendation: Health promotion should be given to family of hypertensive elderly so that blood pressure can be well controlled.
