Abstract
Background: The worldwide fever cases reach to 16-33 million of which 500-600 thousand infonya died. Unless fever is treated, itu can lead to dehydration, febrile seizures and death in infants. There are 2 ways how to lower down fever – pharmacologically and non-pharmacologically. One of non-pharmacological treatment is by applying red onion compress on the axillary area. Objective: This study aims at knowing the application of red onion compress on the axillary area to decrease body temperature of infants aged 1 - 5 years old. Method: This study is an analytical descriptive with a case study approach. The participants are 5 infants aged 1 – 5 years old. Data were obtained through interview and observation. Result: After havig the application of red onion compress in the axilla area, there was a decrease in the body temperature of all participants, i.e. 0.4 ° C (1 participant), 0.2 °C (2 partipiants), 0.1°C (2 participants).
