Abstract
Background: BPH disease burden continues to increase from year to year. From 1990 to 2013 there was an increase in the incidence of BPH by 33.4% in the world (Global Burden of Disease, 2013). The prevalence of BPH in PKU Muhammadiyah Sruweng Hospital shows that during January to August 2017 both inpatient and outpatient total of 157 patients of BPH. Objective: the research to find out what risk factors affect the incidence of BPH Research method: This research use descriptive analytic design. Sample of 36 respondents Sample taken with accidental sampling technique. Analysis of data using chi square to determine the effect between variables and multiple linear regression to determine the most dominant risk factors. Research Finding: Age (p = 0,003), family history (p = 0,002), sexual frequency (p = 0,04), smoking (p = 0,019) and Diabetes Mellitus (p = 0,039 ). Risk factors that did not influence were obesity (p = 0,33), exercise (p = 0,05), diet (p = 0,084), and alcohol consumption (p = 0,516). The most dominant risk factor is age Conclusion: risk factors of BPH occurrence are age, family history, sexual frequency, smoking and history of DM Recommendation: Integrated health education is very important in the community and Hospital both in patients with mild BPH and who do not suffer BPH as an effort to prevent BPH
