Abstract
Background: Indonesia tops the fourth largest number of diabetics in the world. In patients with diabetes mellitus (DM) will appear psychological disorders, such as depression. Depression became one of the biggest problems in type 2 DM patients, with a prevalence of 24% -29%. Depression problems that are not handled properly will have an effect on quality of life or Quality Of Life (poor QOL) Objective: To know depression and quality of life level according age, education, and job of DM patient in Buayan Public Health Center. Method: This study used descriptive observational method by Depression anxiety Stress Scale (DASS) and World Health Organization Quality Of Life (WHQOL) questioner. Sample of 67 patient was taken by consecutive sampling. Results: Normal depression aged 40-65 years (35.8%), with elementary education (31.3%) and working as farmers (19.4%). Quality of life in DM patients aged 40-65 years (50.7%) with primary education (41.8%) and working as farmers (29.9%) mostly have good quality of life. Recommendation: Nurses are recomend to always detect about depression and quality of life level Type 2 DM patiens and doing health promotion to make low depression level and maintain a good level of quality of life for patients with Type 2 DM.
