Abstract
Background: The incidence of COPD continues to increase, COPD ranks as the first contributor to morbidity (35%), followed by bronchial asthma (33%), lung cancer (30%) and others (2%) (PDPI, 2011). In Indonesia COPD is ranked 6th out of 10 causes of death in Indonesia and the prevalence of COPD is 3.7% on average (Riskesdas, 2013). Objective: To analyze "COPD Patient Nursing Care with Ineffectiveness of Breath Pattern in Cendana Room Hospital Prof. Dr. Margono Soekarjo Purwokerto " Nursing Care: In the three COPD patients who were given nursing care complained of shortness of breath, coughing, cold sweat and rapid breathing. This is a characteristic limitation of the problem of ineffectiveness of breathing patterns. The implementation was carried out by giving Trypod Position and Pursed Lip Breathing (PLB) to clients for 3x24 hours to reduce shortness of breath and increase SPO2 Recommendation: Abdominal and lip breath exercises by means of Trypod Position and Pursed Lip Breathing (PLB) can be an alternative independent nursing action that can be done to reduce shortness of breath in COPD patients due to hyperinflation in the airway.
