Abstract
Background: The national exclusive breast-feeding for 6 month-old baby in 2016 was 39.5%, while 59.9% was of Central Java. Meanwhile, the exclusive breast-feeding in Kebumen had been increasing for 5 years, to be 49.46% (2011), 54.58% (2012), 61.17% (2013), 59.3% (2014), and 68.3% (2015).. Whereas, counseling using pocket book media may improve the knowledge of mothers in providing proper breast-milk as additional food. Therefore, the writer is interested in doing counseling by using pocket book media about giving proper breast-milk as additional food for babies. Objective: To know counseling by using pocket book media about breast-milk as additional food accordance to WHO to improve mothers' knowledge to apply on their babies in the age of 6 months. Method: This study is and analytical descriptive. Data were obtained through questionnaire, interview, and documentation. The participants were 5 mothers of 6 month-old babies. Result: After being given counseling, there was an improvement in knowledge level of the participants, i.e 4 participants (80%) became well knowledge level, and 1 participants (20%) became knowledge level enough. Conclusion: Counseling using pocket book media can improve the knowledge and ability of mothers of 6 month-old babies to give proper breast-milk as additional food
