Abstract
Background: The number of diaper dermatitis cases on baby in Kebumen ia around 10.6%. Diaper dermatitis is caused by several factors, such as physical, chemical, enzymatic, and biogenic (bacteria in urine and feses). Beside, it may be caused by the baby's skin being exposed quite long with urine or feses containing ammonia, chemical substances in diapers. Diaper dermatitis can be treated by non-pharmacology therapy, such as using extra virgin olive oil (EVOO). It is a natural material product bring considered as a topical alternative therapy which can be used to treat baby's skin being exposed by diaper dermatitis. This is because EVOO will repair the damage skin cells as it functions as antioxydan that can protect the skin from irritation. Objective: To know the application of extra virgin olive oil (EVOO) in perianal treatment for overcoming diaper dermatitis on babies in health center of Kuwarasan. Method: This study is an observasional descriptive with a case study approach. The participants (5 babies) were taken by using insidental sampling technique ini accordance with the criteria. Data were collected by assessment sheet, procedure operasional standard, and documentation. Result: After having the application of perianal treatment using EVOO, there was a decrease in the level of dermatitis, i.e. from medium level became light level (2 participants(, and from low level became light level (3 participants(. There was 1 participant recovered in 3 days and 4 participants recovered ini 2 daya. Conclusion: Perianal treatment using extra virgin olive oil (EVOO) can health diaper dermatitis on a baby.
