Abstract
Background: The decision of a husband to permit his wife ia in important guideline for her to use contraceptives. If her husband does not permit or support, his wife mau not use contraceptive. Husband support is very influential in making a decision whether or not his wife used contraceptive. Therefore, the writer is interested in applying counseling ini implementing the role of husband support in making a decision and the participation of his wife joining family planning. Objective: To know the application of the counseling on husband support in making a decision and the participation of his wife on joining family planning in independent midwifery clinic of Midwife Yuni Martini. Method: This study was conducted by using qualitative descriptive method with a case study approach. The samples are 5 participants (husbands) taken by using sampling technique with inclusion criteria. Data were obtained through interview, observation, documentation, and literary study. Result: After applying counseling on the role of husband support in amking a decision and the participation of his wife to join family planning, there was an increase in knowledge level of the husband, i.e. from enough knowledge level became good level (4 participants), and from good knowledge level became better level (1 participants). Conclusion: All participants (husbands) play and important role in supporting their wives to join family planning and to use contraceptives.
