Abstract
Background: According to WHO, children suffered from dental caries (rangking from 60%-90%). The prevalence of dental caries According to the children age is 60% of 3 years old children, prevalence of dental caries pre-schooling children is still high. The dental caries of under-5 year old children is due to their diet or their bad dental care. Consequently, it will obstruct their development to that in turn out will reduce their intelligence. In a long term, it then may impact on life quality of the Community. Therefore, the writer is interested in providing counseling of tooth-brushing using audio-visual media and picture-card media to improve the indepence of good and proper tooth-brushing of children under-five. Objective: This study aims at knowing the counseling on tooth-brushing using audio-visualedia and picture-card media to improve the independence of tooth-brushing of pre-schooling children. Method: This study was conducted by using qualitative descriptive with a case study approach. Participants are 24 pre-schooling children of Mawar Pre-schooling Education at Waluyo, Bulusantren, Kebumen. Result: After having the counseling on tooth-brushing using audio-visualedia media and picture-card media, there was an increase in Independent value, i.e. 3 children with sufficient independence (8.3%), 21 children with good independence (91.6%).
