Abstract
Background: Perineum rupture is one of the risky factors of maternal mortality. In 2015 there were 619 cases in Central Java Province. The risky rupture of perineum is that the bleeding can cause an infection during the puerperium (Liu, 2008). Therefore, the writer is interested in applying perineal massage to prevent rupture of perineum of primigravida maternal mothers. Objective: To know the application of perineal massage for preventing perineum rupture of primigravida mothers. Method: This scientific paper is a qualitative descriptive. Data were obtained from the results application during the third trimester pregnancy and observation during labor. The study was conducted from 3 April 2018 up to 05 June 2018. Respondents were 5 pregnant primigravida mothers> 34 weeks. The instruments used were Jelly K-Y, handscoon, watch, pilow, procedure operasional standard, informed consent and observation sheets. Result: After having the application of perineal massage to prevent rupture of perineum on primigravida maternal mothers, the elastinal perineum changed after having massage more than 10 times. Of all participants having rupture, four of then had perineum of 1st degree rupture and one patient had 2nd degree rupture.
