Abstract
Background: Back pain is a discomfort of pregnant mothers in trimester III. There are 314.492 pregnant mothers suffering from back pain in Central Java Province. The prevalence of pregnant mothers feeling back pain is 50% - 70%. In general, back pain disorder is physiological that can turn into pathology if it is not properly addressed. A midwife plays an important role in the effort of the government to improve the health of pregnant mothers through promoting, preventive, curative and rehabilitative concepts in overcoming back pain. The application of warm compress can be done to reduce back pain. Objective: This study aims at knowing the application of warm compress and back massage to reduce back pain of pregnant mothers in trimester III. Method: This scientific paper is an analytical descriptive with a case study approach. Data were obtained through facial pain scale and observation. The participants are pregnant mothers in trimester III with gestational age 32-37 weeks. Result: After applying warm compress and back massage, there was a decrease in the scale of back pain – from moderate category of back pain became mild category.
