Abstract

Background: The cause of under-five children mortality is that 4% due to diarrhea. The incidence of diarrhea is spread across all age groups, with the highest prevalence (16.7%) is of under-five children.Diarrhea is caused by the spread of germs through contamination of food, beverages mixed with feces, and by other risk factors.Therefore, the writer is interested in conducting health counseling for mothers by using leaflet about diarrhea of under-five children. Objective: To know the knowledge of mothers of under-five children about diarrhea of their children after being given health counseling using leaflet. Method: This study is an analytical descriptive with a case study approach.Data were collected through questionnaires, counseling plan, and leaflet. The participants are 5 mothers of under-five children suffering from diarrhea. Result: After having health counseling, there was an increase in knowledge level of all participants, i.e. from score 70 to be 80 (participant 1), from score 65 to be 85 (participant 2), from score 65 to be 80 (participant 3), from score 70 to be 80 (participant 4 and 5). Their knowledge category also had changed from enough category to be good category.
