Abstract
Background: Neonatal mortality rate in Indonesia is still very high, 34 of 1000 live births and about 57% of mortality rate happens to under 1 month babies or when neonatus. One of the causes is neonatal jaundice. Unless jaundice (hyperbillirubinemia) is managed properly, it may damage the baby's brain. High content of white blood cells in colostrum serves as a mild purposive. Then it will stimulate intestinal mortality to accelerate the release of meconium. Consequently, billirubin can be conjugated and the colostrum will suppress the incidence of neonatal jaundice. Signs of brain damage begin with allergies, lethargy and lazy drinking. After a few days it will be opistotonus, loud crying, and spasms to cause babies die. Midwifery care which is relatively cheap and easy to prevent the neonatal jaundice is giving early breastmilk soon after the birth. Objective: To know midwifery care of giving early breastmik to physiological new-born babies in preventing neonatal jaundice in Independent Midwifery Clinic of Midwife Eni Setyo Susilowati. Method: The research is an analytical descriptive with a case study approach. Data were obtained through intervews and observation. The participants were 5 physiological new-born babies. Result: After being given early breastmilk, all participants had no neonatal jaundice anymore and they were healthy.
