Abstract
Background: Jaundice usually happens to a newborn baby. It is caused by the increase of bilirubin that makes the baby’s skin being yellowish. Exclusive breastfeeding and morning sunlight treatment can be ways to prevent jaundice of a newborn-baby. These efforts can anticipate in preventing accumulation of bilirubin in the baby’s blood. Therefore, the writer is interested in giving midwifery care of exclusive breast-feeding and morning sunlight treatment to prevent jaundice of 2-7 days old babies. Objective: To know the application of exclusive breast-feeding and morning sunlight treatment to prevent jaundice of 2-7 days old babies. Method: This study is an analytical descriptive with a case study approach. This research was done in independent midwifery clinic of Midwife Hariyati at Sugihwaras, Adimulyo, Kebumen from February 26 up to May 10, 2018. The total samples are 5 babies. Result: After applying exclusive breast-feeding and morning sunlight treatment, jaundice of 2 – 7 days old babies can be prevented. Conclusion: The application of exclusive breastfeeding and morning sunlight treatment is effective to prevent jaundice of 2-7 days babies.
