Abstract
Background: Early breast-feeding initiation is well known for its benefits, both for babies and mothers. Maternal mortality rate, especially in Kebumen is still high of which one of the causes is bleeding. Early breast-feeding initiation of maternal mothers can activate the hormone oxytosin which in turn it can accelerate stage III and prevent the bleeding in stage IV. Objective: To know the application of early breast feeding initiation of maternal mothers to accelerate the duration of the third stage and to prevent the bleeding (hemorrhage) in the fourth stage. Method: This study is an analytical descriptive with a case study approach. Data were collected through interview and observation, literature study. The participants are 5 maternal mothers. Result: After applying of early breast-feeding initiation for 2 hours on all participants, the results of observation were all of the babies began to open their eyes in the first 30 minutes when they stated to have early breast-feeding initiation, in the next 45 minutes the babies moved their mouths, kissed and felt the amniotic fluid on their hands and salivated, then they moved towards the breast and started suckling through the stages of early breast-feeding initiation. The third stage lased in not more than 15 minutes and in the fourth stage there was no bleeding (not exceeding 500 cc) of maternal mothers. Conclusion: Application of early breast-feeding initiation of maternal mothers can successfully accelerate the duration of stage III and prevent the bleeding in stage IV.
