Abstract
Background, Scabies is a type of skin disease caused by infestation and sensitization of Sercoptes scabiei which is characterized by nigh itching, concerning a group of people, with a thin, warm, and moist place relax the skin. Scabies is the third of the 12 most common skin diseases. A occurrenceof scabies in central java 46,8% in Cilacap, 34,2% in Bukateja, and 19% in Semarang. Objective, The aim of the study to determine factors that influence the incidence of scabies in students at Darrussa’adah Islamic boarding school of Petanahan. Method, This research used descriptive method with the Cross-sectional approach. With 209 populations and as many 68 respondents to the sample have been calculated using solvin’s formula. Data collection using questionnaires and observation sheets then analyzed descriptively and correlatively using the Chi-square test. Results, Based on research conducted in May 2019, it was found that were four factor studied (Knowledge level, Personal hygiene, Ventilation area, and Occupancy density) there is a correlations between the incidence of scabies and the Knowledge level (p = 0,001, X2 = 11,914), personal hygiene (p = 0,000, X2 = 12,674), ventilation area (p = 0,005, X2 = 8,019), occupancy density (p = 0,001, X2 = 10,497). Conclusion, The Conclusion obtained from the four factor examined by Darrussa’adah Islamic boarding school of Petanahan caregivers were suggested to improve clean and healthy living behaviours in order to avoid scabies.
