Abstract

Background: Circumcision is a common minor surgical procedure performed on boys, but it often causes acute pain, especially during the injection of anesthesia. The pain experienced can lead to anxiety and discomfort in children. Hypnotherapy is one of the non-pharmacological methods that can be used to reduce pain perception. Objective: To provide an overview of nursing care for circumcision patients experiencing pain using hypnotherapy. Method: This research was descriptive with a case study approach. The instruments used include the nursing care format, hypnotherapy standard operating procedures (SOP), and the Wong-Baker observation sheet. The subjects in this study were three children aged 9– 13 years undergoing circumcision at Griya Khitan Permata Qolbu. Hypnotherapy was performed before the administration of anesthesia. Observations were conducted during the circumcision procedure. Results: Before the intervention, the three children felt anxious and afraid of the pain from the anesthesia injection and circumcision. After the hypnotherapy intervention, there was a decrease in anxiety and a reduction in pain scale to level 2 (mild).
