Abstract

Background, narcotic and psychotropic substances are classified as having a high potential for misuse, with the risk of inducing physical as well as psychological dependence. Consequently, their management is subject to strict control and regulation under governmental authority. Purpose, this study aims to evaluate the management of narcotic and psychotropic drugs at Hj. Anna Lasmanah Regional General Hospital, Banjarnegara, in accordance with the prevailing regulations, with the objective of preventing misuse and enhancing the quality of healthcare services. Method, a mixed-methods approach was applied in this study, combining qualitative and quantitative methodologies. Primary data were gathered through direct observations and in-depth interviews with pharmaceutical personnel, while secondary data were derived from pharmaceutical management guidelines, hospital standard operating procedures (SOPs), and pharmacy supervision records. The evaluation framework was guided by the Ministry of Health Regulation No. 72 of 2016 on Standards of Pharmaceutical Services in Hospitals and the Ministry of Health Regulation No. 5 of 2023 on Narcotics, Psychotropics, and Pharmaceutical Precursors. Result, achieving full (100%) compliance with the established standards reflects a secure and well-regulated management system that effectively prevents misuse, losses, and other potential adverse consequences. This outcome also signifies the hospital’s strong commitment to ensuring the quality of healthcare services and upholding its legal obligations.
