Abstract

Background, the number of Diabetes Mellitus patiens at PKU Muhammadiyah Petanahan Hospital increased from 2022 to 2023. In 2022, there were 3,235 visits, rising to 4,368 in 2023. The number of outpatient visits for DM patients was 100. This study aimed to determine the relationship between family support and dietary compliance in DM patients at PKU Muhammadiyah Petanahan Hospital. Methods, This study used a cross-sectional design with a total sampling method involving 50 respondents. Bivariate analysis was conducted using the Chi-square test. Results, The study showed that most DM patients at PKU Muhammadiyah Petanahan Hospital received good family support (27 respondents or 54.0%). Conversely, 23 respondents (46.0%) experienced poor family support. Conclusion, There was a significant relationship between family support and dietary compliance, with a (p = 0.005). recommendation for further research, Future researchers should investigate other factors influencing blood sugar levels in DM patients, such as age, gender, and medication adherence, involving all DM patients.
