Abstract

Background : Hypertension is a chronic medical condition characterized by elevated blood pressure above normal limits, often developing without obvious clinical symptoms. This condition carries the risk of serious complications if left uncontrolled. One of the main determinants of successful blood pressure management is patient compliance with medication. This compliance is greatly influenced by social support, particularly from family. Family support is a positive response from family members, providing motivation, medication reminders, and care assistance to ensure the patient's health remains stable and under control. Objective : This research aimsto determine the correaltion between family support and medication adherence in hypertension patients at Gombong II Health Center. Methods : This research was quantitative with a correlational approach. The population was hypertensive patients at Gombong II Community Health Center, with a sample of 56 respondents selected using a random sampling technique. purposive sampling. Data analysis using testsSpearman rho. Result : The results of the study showed that most respondents had high family support.(85.7%) and high medication compliance (80.3%). The test resultsSpearman rho, a significance value of 0.000 < 0.05 was obtained with a correlation coefficient value of r = 0.618. Conclusion : There is a correaltion between family support and medication compliance in hypertension sufferers. Recommendations : Further research is expected to develop other variables such as economic factors and the role of health workers, as well as examine the effectiveness of family-based education to obtain a comprehensive picture of the relationship between family support and adherence to treatment in hypertension patients.
