Abstract
Background: Caregivers are very vulnerable to burnout syndrome while working. Research by Azeri et al (2020), burnout that occurs in caregivers in Japan shows a high percentage scale. 83% for emotional exhaustion, 86% for depersonalization, and 80% for low self-achievement. Indonesian caregivers in Japan are required to provide maximum service to patients and families, environmental, social, cultural and linguistic differences cause stress, so Indonesian caregivers often experience emotional and mental exhaustion at work. This creates excessive pressure on Indonesian caregivers who experience physical, mental and emotional fatigue which is called burnout syndrome. Objective: To find out the description of the incidence of burnout syndrome in Indonesian nurses who work as caregivers in Japan. Method: Using descriptive analysis research methods. The sampling technique used was a total sampling of 45 Indonesian nurses who worked as caregivers in Japan. Data were collected using the Maslach Burnout Inventory Human Services Survey (MBI-HSS) by G-form questionnaire. And analyzed using univariate analysis. Results: The incidence of burnout syndrome among Indonesian caregivers in Japan is stated to be low with the incidence of not experiencing burnout syndrome (57.8%), however emotional exhaustion is in the high category (42.2%), depersonalization is in the low category (55.5%) and self-achievement is in the high category (57.8%). Conclusion: Even though the incidence of burnout among Indonesian caregivers in Japan is stated to be low, need to be careful because emotional exhaustion is in the high category. Recommendation: Further research hope to explore the factors that influence the occurrence of burnout syndrome by further researching individual effort factors, organizational effort factors, and/or work environment.
