Abstract

Background: The use of natural-based medicines is increasingly popular as they are considered safer and more affordable. Jamu, as a traditional product, requires high-quality and consistent medicinal plant raw materials. To ensure the quality of jamu, raw materials must be cultivated in accordance with Good Medicinal Plant Cultivation Practices (GMP-CP). The Jamu Health Tourism (WKJ) in Tegal serves as both an educational center and a model for implementing GMP-CP. Evaluating cultivation practices at WKJ is essential to assess compliance with standards and to develop recommendations for improvement. General Objective: This study aims to evaluate the implementation of medicinal plant cultivation processes at Jamu Health Tourism (WKJ) Tegal based on Good Medicinal Plant Cultivation Practices. Methods: The research was conducted through direct observation and interviews with the responsible pharmacist (APJ). Results: Observations revealed that several components of cultivation already comply with GMP-CP, such as the use of healthy seeds, hygienic harvesting, and administrative record-keeping. However, weaknesses were identified in land drainage, the absence of soil management SOPs, pesticide recording, consistency of harvest timing, and internal audits. Recommendation: Medicinal plant cultivation practices at WKJ Tegal have met part of the GMP-CP requirements, achieving a compliance rate of 75%.
