Abstract

Background: Hypertension is one of the leading causes of death worldwide, with approximately 1.13 billion people suffering from it. Hypertension is often a silent health issue, especially among the elderly. Older adults have a higher risk of hypertension-related complications due to an unhealthy lifestyle and a lack of knowledge about the disease. Objective: To analyze the relationship between knowledge level and lifestyle in elderly patients with hypertension at Semawung Daleman Community Health Center. Method: This study employed a descriptive correlational approach with a cross-sectional design. The sample consisted of 51 elderly individuals selected through total sampling. Data were collected using a validated and reliable questionnaire assessing knowledge level and lifestyle. Data analysis was conducted using the Spearman Rank correlation test. Results: The study revealed that the majority of respondents had a moderate level of knowledge (29 individuals, 56.9%) and a good lifestyle (34 individuals, 66.7%). The Spearman Rank test showed a significant relationship between knowledge level and lifestyle in elderly hypertension patients at Semawung Daleman Community Health Center, with a p-value = 0.000 < 0.05; r = 0.532. Conclusion: There is a significant relationship between knowledge level and lifestyle in elderly patients with hypertension at Semawung Daleman Community Health Center. Recommendation: Future research should explore additional factors that may influence the lifestyle of elderly individuals.
