Abstract
Background: Maternal death of long labor process in Indonesia was 9%. Mother undergoing long labor may experience early postpartum hemorrhage more (72%) compared with those who do not experience long labor (34.29%). Therefore, lumbar massage can be applied to speed up the long labor process in the first stage. Objective: Knowing the application of lumbar massage in accelerating the labor process in the first stage in independent midwifery clinic of Midwife Widi Utami. Method: This study is an analytical descriptive with a case study approach. The participants were 5 maternal mothers in the first stage. Dana was obtained through inclusion-exclusion criteria and observation sheet. Result: After having twice lumbar massage for 10 minutes, for the most part of participants felt comfortable. In addition, the uterine contraction (his) found adequate that can increase the frequency and duration of this. Thus, the duration of labor in the first stage was categorized fast. Conclusion: The application of lumbar massage in the first time was faster, i.e.less than 6 hours.
