Abstract

Background: Management of diarrhea of children in a family dependens on the role of the family, especially the mother. Because of lack of knowledge, however, the management of diarrhea of children is seldom conducted in a family. Therefore, health education is carried out which hopefully can improve the ability of the mother to care for and prevent diarrhea. Objective: To describe the application of family health education in improving the ability of mothers in the management of diarrhea suffered by children in a family. Method: This paper is a qualitative descriptive with a case study approach. The respondents were 3 families having children suffering from diarrhea. Data analysis and presentation in this case study are facts from the results of the study of narrative texts and table presentations Result: The ability of all respondents in managing diarrhea of their children has improved after having health education. Conclusion: Health education is effective to improve the ability of mothers in managing diarrhea of their children. Recommendation: Mothers are expected to be able to apply the management of children with diarrhea in their family.
