Abstract
Background: Lactation management is a necessary treatment to support successful breastfeeding. Its implementation begins especially during pregnancy, immediately after giving birth and during breastfeeding. If lactation management is not implemented, there will be a decrease in breastfeeding, an increase in malnutrition and undernutrition which are at risk of increasing infant morbidity and mortality. Objective: to determine correlation between knowledge of lactation management and the attitude of postpartum mothers in breastfeeding at Kaliwiro Public Health Center. Methods: This study is a survey with a quantitative method with a population of all postpartum mothers undergoing treatment at Kaliwiro Public Health Center. Sampling used a non-probability sampling technique with a total sampling method of 45 respondents who underwent postpartum care. Results: There is a significant correlation between knowledge of lactation management and the attitude of postpartum mothers in the breastfeeding (P = 0.049). Conclusion: Knowledge of lactation management is related to the attitude of postpartum mothers in breastfeeding at Kaliwiro Public Health Center. Recommendation: Health professionals are expected to provide health promotion about lactation management so that mothers have more confidence that breastfeeding is very good for the health of babies and mothers themselves
