Abstract
Background : the recommendation to give breast milk to newborn children until the child is 6 months old is because at that age children need good nutritional intake, one of which is breast milk because it has not been soiled. Children who are given intake with poor nutrition will cause a lack of process in child growth and development and children may also experience malnutrition, malnourished children have low immune systems so they are easily susceptible to disease (Kemenkes RI, 2015). Objective : To find out the relationship between knowledge about exclusive breastfeeding and breastfeeding for nursing students at Muhammadiyah University of Gombong. Method : The researcher used a cross sectional design approach with quantitative research with 50 respondents and used a total sample. Results : The results of the Spearmank Rank statistic test obtained a significant value (p = 0.000 < 0.05), thus the results of the data analysis with Ho rejected and Ha accepted which means that there is a relationship between knowledge about exclusive breastfeeding and breastfeeding. Conclusions : there is a relationship between knowledge about exclusive breastfeeding and breastfeeding for nursing students at Muhammadiyah University of Gombong.
