Abstract

Background: Dengue Fever is a disease caused by the dengue virus, which is carried by the Aedes Aegypti and Aedes Albopictus mosquitoes. According to WHO statistics, there were 5.2 million illnesses and 4032 deaths in 2019, and there were 87,501 cases in Indonesia in 2022. Gesikan Village has been involved in 7 cases during the past 4 years, including 2 fatalities. In addition, Gesikan is flooded every year. Research Objectives: The purpose of this study was to describe the implementation of 5M in the prevention of Dengue Fever among the people of Gesikan, Kebumen, Central Java, Indonesia. Research Methods: The cross-sectional research design used in this study is descriptive-quantitative. The population in this study totaled 891, and after being divided by this number using the Slovin algorithm, a sample of 100 respondents was obtained using a random sampling technique. Questionnaires served as the study's main tool. Research Results: The majority of respondents to this study fell into the sufficient category after the water reservoirs were closed for 43 respondents, drained for 46 respondents, used goods were recycled and reused for 29 respondents, carbonate powder was sprinkled in the sufficient category for 50 respondents, and planting mosquito repellent plants for 67 respondents. Conclusion: The majority of the Gesikan Village Community is in the sufficient category, which needs to be improved to prevent the incidence of Dengue Fever. Recommendations: Future researchers are urged to recruit more respondents than the 100 who participated in this study, as it is thought that this would improve the quality of the research. This study is purely descriptive and makes no connections, it is hoped that future studies will be able to look at how factors are correlated.
