Abstract
Background, capsule formulations with active ingredients of viscous extracts have characteristics that are less stable, so special treatment is needed to overcome these deficiencies, namely the granulation method. Efforts to obtain an optimal granule formula need to be carried out at the formula optimization stage with the help of the design expert 13. application, so that the granules can meet the predetermined requirements. Objective, make a capsule formula from the ethanol extract of siam weed leaves (Chromolaena odorata L.) with the physical quality of the preparation along with the dissolution profile that meets the requirements. Research Methods, this research is an experimental research, in which a formula will be designed using the Simplex Lattice Design (SLD) method using the help of design expert 13. applications with aerosil adsorbent variations and Poly Vinyl Pyrrolidone (PVP) binding agents using the Simplex Lattice Design (SLD) method and then evaluating in granule and capsule preparations used as antioxidants. Results, the use of aerosil adsorbents and Poly Vinyl Pyrrolidone (PVP) binders can produce granules in capsule preparations with physical quality that meets the requirements including maximum flow rate, minimum angle of repose, and good compressibility. Capsule preparations also meet the evaluation requirements for weight uniformity, disintegration time, and capsule dissolution tests. Conclucion, aerosil adsorbent concentrations and Poly Vinyl Pyrrolidone (PVP) binders that can produce optimal granules in capsule preparations are 1% and 5%. Recommendations, for future researchers, it is recommended to carry out standardization tests on simplicia and extracts, as well as perform antioxidant tests on capsule preparations from the ethanol extract of Siam weed leaves (Chromolaena odorata L.).
