Abstract
Background, Diabetes Mellitus (DM) is a group of metabolic diseases characterized by high blood sugar levels, which occur due to defects in insulin action. The prevalence of diabetes continues to increase, with diabetes in Central Java province reached of 91,161 cases and in Kebumen district reached of 7,274 cases. Preliminary study results in Dr. Soedirman Kebumen hospitalized patients in 2022 reached of 551 cases. Patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus are classified as high every year in Dr Soedirman Kebumen Hospital. The aim of the study was to evaluate the rationality of using oral antidiabetic drugs in patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus hospitalized in Dr Soedirman Kebumen Hospital, to find out the description and characteristics of the use of oral antidiabetic drugs in patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus hospitalized in Dr Soedirman Kebumen Hospital, determine the rationality of drug use in patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus who are hospitalized at Dr Soedirman Kebumen Hospital. Research method, this type of non-experimental research is observational, data collection is retrospective, data is compared with the 2021 PERKENI guidelines and the 23rd edition of DIH. Research result, The results of the study were obtained from 94 samples of Type 2 DM patients at the inpatient installation of Dr Soedirman Kebumen Hospital with rationality of 92.55% of the criteria for the right indication 100%, the right drug 93.63%, the right patient 100%, the right dose 100%, the right way of administration 98.94% and the right frequency of administration 100%. Conclusion, The most widely used oral antidiabetic treatment is metformin single treatment and metformin + glimepiride combination treatment. The rationality of oral antidiabetics was 92.55% of the 100% accuracy criteria, namely the right indication, the right patient, the right dose and the right frequency of administration. Right medicine 93.63%, and right way of administration 98.94%. Recommendation, For future researchers, it is necessary to conduct a prospective study on drug evaluation in Type 2 DM patients.
