Abstract
Background: Hypertension is a significant risk factor for chronic diseases like stroke, heart failure, and kidney failure. Despite its serious consequences, hypertension is often referred to as a "silent killer" disease because many sufferers do not experience noticeable symptoms. Some common symptoms of hypertension include headaches, fatigue, blurred vision, ringing in the ears, and nosebleeds. Objective: To desbribe lifestyle for the prevention of hypertension complications on patients with hypertension in Kenteng Village, Sempor District. Method: The study was a quantitative design with a descriptive research design. Total sampling was used to select 134 respondents, but only 99 respondents participated in the data collection process. The instrument used was a lifestyle questionnaire consisting of 20 questions covering physical activity, diet, smoking habits, and coffee consumption. Results: The majority of hypertension sufferers in Kenteng Village, Sempor District, were aged 51–60 years, with 39 people (39.4%), and 88 of them (88.9%) werre women. Most of them work as farmers, accounting for 54.5% of the respondents, and have an education level of elementary school or below (88.9%). Additionally, 61.6% of the respondents have no family history of hypertension. In terms of lifestyle items, the highest number of respondents (33.3%) fell into the "bad" category for their diet. Overall, the majority of the lifestyle choices of hypertension sufferers in Kenteng Village were rated as "moderate," with 72.7% falling into this category. Conclusion: The study concluded that the lifestyle choices of hypertension sufferers in Kenteng Village, Sempor District, are generally in the "moderate" category. Recommendation: Further study is recommended to identify the factors that contribute to hypertension and explore the link between causative factors and possible interventions to help and manage patients with hypertension.
