Abstract
Background: Based on the prevalence of Acute Respiratory Infection according to RISKESDAS 2018, according to the diagnosis of a nurse or doctor it is 4.4%, while the Prevalence of Acute Respiratory Infection according to symptoms is 9.3%. Central Java Province is a province that has the highest rate of Acute Respiratory Infection, namely 3.61%, this is a problem that must be addressed. One of the therapies that can be done independently is eucalyptus oil steam therapy. Eucalyptus oil steam therapy is a simple inhalation therapy. This therapy can be used to treat impaired airway clearance in children with acute respiratory infections. Objective: To describe nursing care for ineffective airway clearance in children with acute respiratory infections using eucalyptus oil vapor therapy in Klapasawit village, Buluspesantren district. Method: This paper is an analytical description with a case study approach. Data obtained through observation and interviews. The participants were 3 pediatric patients with acute respiratory infections. Results: From the results of the study of 3 patients, it was found that the child had ineffective airway clearance related to airway spasm. The action taken was by administering eucalyptus oil vapor therapy to 3 patients to overcome ineffective airway clearance in children. After the eucalyptus oil steam therapy was carried out for 3 days, carried out every morning and evening, there was a change in normal respiratory frequency, decreased coughing ability, normal breathing patterns and no crackles. Conclusion: Eucalyptus oil steam therapy to help expel phlegm and improve breathing in children with Acute Respiratory Infections. Recommendation: Patients are advised to continue eucalyptus oil steam therapy independently at home to facilitate the smooth process of the respiratory system and make it easier for phlegm to be removed and prevent signs of symptoms from reappearing.
