Abstract

Background: Based on data from the World Health Organization, the incidence of breast cancer 9worldwide has reached 2.1 million and the death rate for women due to cancer is 627,000. Meanwhile in Indonesia it reached 42.1%. Chemotherapy is a type of treatment to kill or slow the growth of cancer cells which requires a long period of time, where this treatment requires compliance. Compliance with chemotherapy can be influenced by several factors, one of which is family support. Objective:. Find out the relationship between family support and chemotherapy compliance in breast cancer patients. Method: This is research uses quantitative methods with a cross-sectional approach. Sampling used purposive sampling technique and obtained a sample of 64 respondents. data collection using a questionnaire. Research results: The results of this study show that the average patient age is 49.31, the average caregiver age is 36.70, the patient's marital status is married (98.4%), the duration of chemotherapy is less than 1 year (79.7%) , no hereditary history (93.8%), the family who cares for the patient (67.2%), the average self-concept of breast cancer patients is 44.48, which is medium, and the average self-concept of caregivers of breast cancer patients is 49.97 namely high. Conclusion: There is a relationship between family support and chemotherapy compliance in cancer patients Recommendations: Future researchers can use the variable family support with chemotherapy compliance in breast cancer.
