Abstract
Background: Family planning program (KB) in Indonesia has not been completely successful. It can be indicated by 11 % unmet need that becomes a problem to be addressed immediately. Good counseling can increase the success family planning program and can make the clients use contraceptives longer. And it can also reflect the good quality of the services provided. Purpose: To apply five-step strategy contraceptive counseling so as to describe the characteristics and experiences of contraception of Mrs. D. To know the decision of contraception use of Mrs. D. To know the effects of contraceptives used by Mrs . D. Methods: This scientific paper uses a qualitative descriptive method through a case study approach. The sample is Mrs. D, 29 years old. The study was conducted from February to May 2016. Results: The five-step strategy counseling was performed on 23, April 2016 for about 60 minutes. The counseling began from the first step which includes exploring the women situation, providing information about contraceptive metods, performing medical evaluations, guiding the decision-making process, and following-up the counseling. It was found that Mrs. D, 29 years old with P2A0AH2 has been long injection acceptor for 4 years 3 months. Mrs. D finally decided to use implant contraceptive after counseling about a five-step strategy. The side effect of implant contraceptive she experienced was the pain after the installation, bruises one day after the installation and also got acne. Conclusion: The five-step strategy could be applied towards Mrs. D in midwifery private clinic of Midwife Jemanis at Alian, Kebumen.
