Abstract

Background: Dysmenorrhea is lower abdominal pain that is often experienced during, before and after menstruation. One of the non-pharmacological treatments for dysmenorrhea is using therapy. Therapy that can be done to reduce dysmenorrhea pain is message effleurage. Objective: To determine the effect of message effleurage to reduce dysmenorrhea pain Method: This research uses a descriptive method with a case study approach. The data collection process uses interview and observation techniques. The respondents of this study consisted of 3 children aged 12-15 years who experienced acute pain problems. Pain measurements carried out in this research used a numeric rating scale which was carried out before and after the message effleurage action. Results: After carrying out the message effleurage action for 3 meetings, it was found that the pain of the three respondents decreased from an average of 6 to 3. Recommendation: It is hoped that future researchers can combine this message effleurage therapy with other therapies so that the results are optimal.
