Abstract

Background: Stunting is a condition of growth and development failure in children caused by malnutrition from pregnancy to 24 months of age. During this phase, maternal knowledge is very important for fetal growth because tissue preparation and organ maturation occur. Malnutrition during pregnancy will cause pregnancy problems such as lack of red blood cells, babies born with low birth weight, and cause birth defects, so that fetal growth will be disrupted. Objective: To describe “Nursing Care with Knowledge Deficit Problems in Pregnant Women Through Health Education on Stunting Risk Factors in Binangun Community Health Center Work Area”. Method: This scientific paper uses a descriptive method with a case study approach in the form of nursing care for 3 pregnant women in the first trimester who experienced a knowledge deficit problem regarding risk factors for stunting in pregnant women. Results: The results of the assessment of 3 pregnant women found a lack of understanding of the risk factors for stunting in pregnant women. Nursing diagnosis of knowledge deficit related to lack of exposure to information. Actions were carried out in 3 meetings with education using the lecture method with animated videos of risk factors for stunting in pregnant women. The results of the evaluation after the intervention of education on risk factors for stunting in pregnant women showed an increase in the level of knowledge of mothers. Recommendation: The level of knowledge of pregnant women regarding the risk factors for stunting in pregnant women is very important because it will affect the growth and development of the fetus. Providing education has been able to increase maternal knowledge.
